Situated on the most westerly part of Europe, the island of Ireland is a country that has recently undergone many changes after a sustained period of massive economic growth. The island consists of two separate countries, the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland which forms part of Great Britain.
The climate of Ireland can be best described as cool temperate oceanic. The weather is changeable throughout the whole year. The winters are typically cool and wet with mild, but changeable summer weather. It is often said in Ireland that each day can bring the extremes of each season.
